When In Rome...

The language for today isn't necessarily slang, but anything in general that is a little different than how we say it. Bin = garbage can Sunnies = Sun glasses Swimmers = Swim suit Diary = Planner/Agenda Brekkie = Breakfast. Never heard this one said but I see it on posters and have been texted it. Good on ya = well done or nice job Sheila is not a thing, thankfully. Although most people have a hard time figuring out my name at first because it's too similar. It usually takes about 3 tries for them to get it right. Please note these aren't necessarily words that are used by everyone all the time. I have heard or seen them at least a few times though. Now that I'm getting used to the language I'm finding a lot more similarities to the US then I originally thought since I've picked out the oddities and can now recognize them. Have is used instead of take quite a bit. "I'm going to have a shower." or "Go have a nap if you're so ti...

Family Time

Blog overload!!! I currently have about 3 posts worth of material, which is why I'm not posting at all. I don't even know where to start!! I guess I'll try and pick up where I left off and try and remember everything (and somehow organize the 894275839817 photos from 3 different cameras) I felt bad last time because I didn't manage to get any pictures of my Grandparents to post on here. Again, I missed this one :( On Thursday of last week my Grandparents got on a train and headed to Canberra to visit Diane and Ed (Diane is George's cousin, that's how I know them). My parents and I decided to do some shopping (or browsing since things are just too expensive here). Exhibit A Dad found this pricing amusing... We enjoyed a nice lunc...

Touristing

Warning, this post is heaps long and heaps awesome... My parents are here!!!! Holy cow is that awesome. They also brought my Grandparents along which is super cool. They arrived at the airport Monday morning. I met them there, we all hopped in a car and I somehow managed to direct them to where they are staying while my Dad somehow managed to successfully drive on the opposite side of the road. Everyone got settled in, we got some food and groceries and by then it was time for sleep for everyone. Tuesday morning I hopped on a bus over to their apartment and we all packed in the car and headed for Darling Harbour. I was pretty excited for this as I have yet had much of a chance to play tourist while I'm here. We got there, did some organizing and planning for the day, then decided it was lunch time. Mom knew exactly where she wanted to eat... We ate a delicious lunch at the Hard Rock overlooking the harbour, then decided to hit up the gift shop. Sign outside of the g...
