Finally Legal!!!

What a great Birthday. I honestly don't know what else to say other than that. It was absolutely fantastic.

My day was packed with fun activities. I had absolutely no plans at all until about 5 on Tuesday when I decided I might as well at least enjoy the standard Wednesday double happy hour at the unibar.

I studied until 11:30 Tuesday night. I have so much work to do and didn't plan on doing any of it on my Birthday so I worked to the last minute. Just before midnight I met up with the boys I hang out with. They had beers for me. We just hung out and drank for a bit, they played some rugby in the living room (which ends up being way more intense than it sounds). A sort of cool thing about the night was it was thunderstorming. We get a lot of rain but I miss the thunderstorms from home, especially around my birthday which is storm season in Iowa. Once the rain calmed down a bit everyone headed to bed.

I woke up with only one thing in mind... The beach.

This is what was currently going on back home...

It has never before snowed on my Birthday. Not too sad that I missed this.
I'm used it being cold on my birthday. For my 6th I remember having to wear our winter coats in the Garage while we broke the piñata (you have no idea how much effort I put in to getting the tilde over the n). Here I have a spring birthday and I took full advantage of that :)

It was hot. The high was 34 (93 Fahrenheit). Sesh and I walked to Coogee and had lunch at Moo Burger which I've heard a lot about but never got the chance to try it.

Delicious :)
Then we headed to the beach for a bit.

Very different scenery than the snow back home.

The water was so cold so we didn't swim. After a bit we caught a bus back to uni. I went to visit Abby for a bit to receive my birthday present from her...

Yummmmmmmmmm
I can't remember everything that's in this cake but it's something she made up on her own and as my birthday present named it after me :) There was orange and pistachios and deliciousness.

I then met up with the boys again for a bit (and shared some of my cake obviously), then it was time for double happy hour at the Roundhouse.

Diksha came to mine to give me a card that later brought me to tears. Then the two of us headed to the unibar. Lots of people joined us. I didn't take any pictures because I was too busy enjoying myself.

Okay I did take one picture...

Mmmmmmmm Beer :)
It was a fantastic evening. Once the unibar crowd dispersed I came back to the village with friends and just chilled for a bit. I ended up going to bed before midnight :) It wasn't a hardcore night but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Today I received a card in the mail from my family. Everyone signed it :) Even the little ones. (Alexa wrote her first name in cursive. I'm 21 and my niece is learning cursive. Time goes way too quickly.)

Looking back I honestly could not have asked for a better birthday. I was really homesick on Tuesday since I've celebrated the last 20 birthdays with my family, (I can't wait to celebrate with them while I'm home for 3 weeks in December) but the moment midnight hit all of my friends made sure I was having fun and enjoying my birthday to the fullest. I cannot believe how lucky I am. I had no plans except for happy hour (which I just sent out a text to some of my contacts inviting them to come and telling them to bring friends) but despite that I ended up with a day better than anything I could have planned. A special thanks to anyone who made me feel special yesterday. Even if it was just a message on Facebook or a quick hug at the roundhouse I am truly thankful for it.

Cheers ^_^
