Random Thoughts As I Pack

HOLY COW AM I EXCITED TO GO HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

I'm dreading the cold weather though.

Okay, not entirely. I'm hoping for a white Christmas.

I realise I did not post at all in November. Nothing really exciting was happening. Just working on uni a lot. Made it through exams alive. Then started working at my job a lot to make the monies :) It's finally summer here and we're starting to get some really nice weather. I haven't had much of a chance for a beach day yet though :( I will definitely get on that once I get back in January.

The past week I've been working every day, meaning I've literally been living off Lebanese food. As much as I love me some Shish Kebabs and Lady Fingers I cannot wait for some food from home. Random side note, I think the restaurant I work in deep fries more of their food than the average American restaurant. I love it :) Anywho, I managed to leave it to the very last minute to pack, as in I'll leave my apartment in about 6 hours and I'm not even halfway done :/ Oh well. Packing to go home to winter in Iowa is a lot different than packing for summer. First off, last time I managed to fit everything in to my small bag which I then packed into my larger bag so I could bring heaps of stuff back. This time that's not the case. I fear I will be filling both bags (although some stuff will be left home so I will have room to bring more stuff back again). Also different this time around is the fact that I will be moving apartments right when I return so I'm trying to clean and organise so it's relatively easy to move. I'm staying in the same apartment complex but moving to the other end. I'm really excited for this because of my new roommates AND a super amazing view (will post pictures once I move).

To add to the stress of me packing and cleaning and organising right now I got results back today for classes and found out I failed one of them. The mark they gave me looked really odd so I did some calculating and discovered it's the grade I would receive if I hadn't taken the final. Seeing as I most definitely did take the final (I had another final the same day so I spent 8 hours taking exams in one day...) I now get to sort that out and hopefully will end up passing it in the end.

This time I'm going home for exactly 3 weeks again. I really wanted to spend New Years here so I booked my return flight for the 27th, getting me back here on the 29th. And joining me on my flights back this time is my very good childhood friend, Mallory!!!! We were just casually catching up online one day when I mentioned she needs to start saving up to come visit me. She agreed. I said it'd be so cool if she could come for New Years even though it was mainly a joke as it's quite short notice for that expensive of a trip. Two days later she had flights booked and will be here for 2 weeks to visit! I can hardly contain my excitement!!!!!!!

This time around I will be flying Delta airlines again (since I'm staying here I decided it was time to sign up for skymiles to take advatange of all the traveling I'll be doing, and chose Delta for a few different reasons so I'll probably be flying with them from here on out). I fly to LA, then to Detroit then finally to the Quad Cities. The total travel time from the time I walk out of my apartment to the time I make it home to my parent's house will probably be about 30 hours if everything goes smoothly. Because of the recent winter storm in the US flights out of Sydney to LA were delayed quite a bit today so I spent most of the day stressing, but at this point the weather appears to be behaving and things seem to be all caught up so I'm hoping all continues to go smoothly.

That's about it for now. I'll leave you with this.

TREE!!!!! (Notice the clothing attire. It was a really nice night. Definitely not what I'm used to for Christmas season.)
A cake brought in for a party at work. I thought it was cute. They also had a singer come in dressed like Marilyn Monroe to sing 2 songs and Happy Birthday, and they left in a Hummer Limo.
Little Lizard!!!! He was probably only as long as my pinky finger.
They had a mini light show on campus.
Selfies 4 lyfe!!!
See you soon Iowa!!!!
