Life is Like a Roll of Toilet Paper...

... the closer to the end it gets, the faster it goes.

I've found this to be quite true for my trip here. I think that is partly due to the fact that my first two months I wasn't doing much of anything. My second two months I had started uni but it still wasn't very demanding, but by now I'm pretty busy will uni while having a job and still making sure to spend as much time as possible with my friends.

I had a hard realisation the other day; I really only have about one month left here...

ONE MONTH.

So I've gotten pretty nostalgic about this entire trip. Thinking of my favorite moments.

  • The first night I made friends. I had a horrible day the Thursday after arriving because the jet lag caught up to me and I sat around all day with nothing to do because I knew absolutely no one and I was in this horrible foreign land I knew nothing about and it was awful. So Friday I went down to ask about the beach day the Village was having on Saturday. The guy in charge, Luke, canceled it because there wasn't really anyone around interested (most people had friends in the Village and just went to the beach whenever with them.) But he was nice enough to then invite me to the beach with him and his housemates that night. We swam some, had a couple drinks, and then all went out later that night to Arq. My first night out in Sydney and they took me to a Gay bar. Hehe. But it was one of the best nights I've had here.
  • Trying TimTams for the first time.
  • Getting into the VIP section on Australia Day with Adam and Vanessa.
  • My random night out with Vik and Abby, where we went to World Bar and What Club and then Abby and I sat in front of her fridge and ate pretty much everything in it (this is when I tried Vegemite, which I will NEVER try again.)
  • The amazing touristing experiences I had in both Sydney and New Zealand with my parents and Grandparents.
  • ... The beach day at the start of Uni where ALL of my friends were there. And the surf was so good (the beach was technically closed because of the crazy waves).
  • Getting treated well at Opera Bar by a friend who works there.
  • Amazing dinners with friends including Paella, Daal, Nasi Goreng, Sushi, and SO many others. And sharing my own "American" treat of Buffalo Wings and Scotcharoos.
  • The MechSoc booze cruise. Trying to convince all of the guys that I actually am a Mechanical Engineer.
  • TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!
  • A delicious BBQ on Easter, helping me to not feel alone on a day I would normally spend with my family
  • This last weekend of Neon Trees and Sara's birthday.

And my favourite...

Getting to meet so many amazing people from so many different places. Learning from them; seeing the world in a whole new way. Letting them help me see myself in a whole new way... A better way.
