Being home has been quite interesting. It's been full of very busy moments because I'm trying to do everything possible in so little time, and it's also been full of the not so exciting there's nothing to do around here moments. It's been so great to see all of my friends and family that I've missed so much, but this trip isn't all fun. I have a lot of business to attend to as well. For starters, my first Saturday home my parents and I headed to Ames with their motorcycle trailer. When I moved out of my apartment last December, I anticipated coming back and getting another apartment, so I had a storage garage in Ames I kept all of my things in. Saturday was filled with cleaning that out :)

We actually pulled this off pretty quickly and were home for dinner.
We had lunch at our favourite place in Ames, Hickory Park. It was delicious and hopefully we'll be back sometime in the future to enjoy it again. Then it was time to say goodbye to Ames...

You must admit, Iowa State does have a very pretty campus.
Most of the belongings removed from that garage are now in my parents living room and we're working on sorting through things we want to keep and things we can just get rid of. That's been quite the
fun process.
Monday morning was another exciting event for me. 7:45am was my appointment to get my wisdom teeth out. Which I did, then proceeded to sit around half asleep for the next 2 1/2 days. By Thursday I was doing okay which was great because that's the day we planned to meet Abby in Chicago!!!
My Mom and I headed into the Windy City, met up with Abby and had a wonderful day of shopping.

I love her!!!! :)
It was so much fun to see one of my Australian friends over here so close to home and I'm so thankful her family let me steal her for a day :)
Friday was quite fun filled as well. The summers of 2009 and 2010 I participated in this nerdy music thing called Drum and Bugle Corps. Friday was their home show in Dubuque which is just north of home, so my mother and I headed up to see the show and my little sister Betsy whom I met through Corps. It was so awesome, and made me miss it quite a bit. I gave up my last chance to march next summer by staying in Sydney; a decision I'm happy with but in a very bitter sweet sort of way. The shows of both home corps (The Colts and Colt Cadets) were so phenomenal. I don't know how to express how proud I am of how far those corps have come and how proud I am to say I've been a part of that family. I was also very pleased with the Madison Scouts show and their salute to the men and women of the military. It was a great night and I'm so happy my Mom is so willing to do all of these things with me.
I'm going to end this here. I'm loving being home but can't wait to get back to my normal routine in Sydney. I still cannot believe how lucky I am to have this opportunity and to have family so supportive of it. Thanks to everyone who's helped me or been there for me in any way!
