G'Day Mate

... I don't think I've ever actually heard someone say that. However, I've been told if you go north to Queensland the accents are thicker and there's much more stereotypical Australian talk. I just may have to venture north to see for myself.

Some more differences for you :)

Tyre = Tire
Uni = School/College/University
Colleges = Dorms
Mossies = Mosquitoes
Hire = Rent (You don't rent a car, you hire one)
Pokies = Slot Machines
Singlet = Tank-Top/Camisole
Servo = Gas Station
Timetable = Schedule
Serviette = Napkin

There is a difference between noodles and pasta. I didn't know this until I got here because I've always heard them used interchangeably. If you're actually curious as to the difference you can Google it.

I'm now on the Village netball team. It's similar to Intramurals. It was quite the experience when for our first game our team consisted of 3 girls who had played and 5 that hadn't ever played before. It's sort of like basketball only it's not a contact sport at all. And the positions are more like soccer. But anyway, I'm insanely competitive and got pretty into it for never having heard of the sport before I got here.
