Happenings

What have I been up to? Exciting things. Those posts from my parent's visit took up so much time I've been neglecting my daily life on here. So I'm going to cram the past month into one post :)

Well right after my parents left O-Week began. Crazy festivities all over the place. Wednesday was when the Village started celebrating with a carnival and food during the day and at night,

A cruise around the Harbour

Meet Abby
And after the Cruise of course we went to the Rege (the only bar near campus)

Meet Pranoy and Ollie :)
Thursday there was a Uni Party at the roundhouse on campus. A foam party. But it reached capacity quite early so we didn't get in and just ended up at the Rege.

Friday there was a paint party

This is Meg, Tanya, Emma, Cassie and Rashed
This pretty much destroyed my clothes :)

My friend Prab gave me the shirt to wear...
Saturday was Mardi Gras in Sydney, which is very different from what it is in the US. It's a massive GLBT Rights festival. We stopped for a bit to watch part of the parade which was awesome.

Meet Alix and Sara (And Meg who you've already met)
Then we went to a party at a hotel bar on Oxford Street.

Sunday was a recovery day for everyone.

Then classes started.

Since then I've enjoyed,

Beach days

My roommates Felicia and Debra
Spaghetti nights with my friend Tom...

Because cheap and easy dinner is always better when shared (I miss you Jess)
Another Uni Party (this was Circus Themed. I didn't dress up and don't have pictures)

More Weekly chats with my family...

Teisha forgot and is in her car...

Showing me Turt and Myrtle while Alexa and Avery color Easter Eggs
We celebrated Alix's Birthday

We have here Emma, El, Alix, Nick, Sara, Jonna and Flori
I went on the Mechanical Engineering Society cruise around the harbour which I got to dress up for :)

I love having friends to borrow clothes from (Alix loaned me this one)
Lisa (a new friend we made that night), Alix (again), Rosie and Melanie
Most of the guys on the cruise wouldn't believe that Alix and I are MechEng majors. She's actually not :) But we did have a fun time trying to convince them.

There was an after party for the cruise at a bar near the harbour. A ton of people were having a go at this boxing game where it measures how hard you can punch. The highest score was a 959. They talked me into having a go. I got 949. :)

I finally found Frank's hot sauce and made buffalo wings for everyone. They were delicious if I do say so myself...

I watched a game of Cricket. It's insanely boring. But we won and by the end of the game I was sort of getting into it.

And most recently we had another UniParty... TOGA!!!!!!

They let us out of class at 5 (which is early but it was the start of our midsemester break)

Abby and I ordered pizza,

Pizza, wine, and cartoons.
And then started getting ready.
We so cool.
Meet Sam (he needed help wrapping his toga.)
Such a great picture :(
I ran into my roommate who was all ready for another party. :)
And Saturday I enjoyed a night out with the guys...

You've already met Sam and Pranoy...

For Easter Sunday some friends of mine had a Barbecue at their place. It was really nice. We had some beers, I made more buffalo wings and he made some sausages. And I brought dessert...

Mmmmm Scotcharoos. I've been dying to have some of these.
It hasn't been all fun and games though. (Well mostly it has but hey, this is basically a vacation for me right?)

School has started which means studying...

Yes I took a picture of my books... deal with it :)

And after a little spider fiasco in my kitchen during which all of the village thought someone was being murdered in my apartment, my roommates and I got together and cleaned everything...

In case you can't tell, it's me vacuuming the ceiling of our balcony (It was covered with cobwebs)
During this cleaning process we found quite a few exciting things left from the last tenants. These things included 2 juicers, 2 more (we already have 2) rice makers, 2 more (again already have 2) sandwich toasters, 10 cutting boards, a really nice brand new pair of scissors, a wok (YAY), and the weirdest thing was dog shampoo. It was quite the experience. But now our kitchen and living room are completely clean!!!!! (which means if I feel like it sometime soon I'll post some pictures of my apartment.

I also miss my family like crazy and cried when I received this in the mail the other day...

I miss you guys too, more than you could ever know.
Well that was the last month in a nutshell. Classes are going well, but in all fairness I have a really easy schedule this semester. As of this week I'm officially halfway through my stay here. I really don't know how I feel about that. It makes me really sad as I'm not near ready to leave. I do still have 3 months left here though and I'm making sure to make the absolute most of every moment I have. In the past 3 months I've already learned so much and changed in ways I never would have imagined possible. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to do this and cannot wait to see what the next 3 months have in store for me.
