I have no idea what to title this post so that's what you get...
There's a few things that have happened recently I feel are blog worthy.
First off, I got a job. Nothing major. But money is tight here as things are very expensive and I want to have the money to go do things with friends (and not have to skip a meal or too as a result). Abby knew I'm a little tight on money, so when a girl at her work quit she offered to bring in my resume. Her boss told her to screw the resume and just bring me in during her next shift for a trial. Trials are big thing down here in the hospitality industry. For most waitressing/bartending jobs they'll have you come in and work a 3 hour shift and that'll help them determine if you're fit for the job. So I went in and I've worked 2 shifts since. It's just a waitressing job at a small Italian place where most of the customers are regulars. It has insanely good pizza (hands down the best supreme pizza I've ever had), and seafood and even really good looking BBQ ribs. It's fairly easy and I'm picking it up pretty quickly but the only 3 times I've worked I've been fighting a horrible cold...
Which brings me to my next happening. Sickness. The weather is getting colder (quite quickly to be honest) and it's been raining a lot. Cold + Wet = Everyone getting sick. Half of the tenants of my apartment got sick. Including me. I got a really bad cold that I could NOT get rid of for multiple weeks. Until all of a sudden I started to lose my voice. And then my voice was completely gone. I could scream at the top of my lungs and absolutely no sound would come out. After 3 days of that (and walk at night with some friends which resulted in me being unable to breathe and my chest feeling like it was on fire) I finally went to the doctor. Turns out my cold developed into Laryngitis and Tracheitis. Basically everything from my tonsils all the way down until just before my lungs was severely swollen (hence why I had no voice). So they gave me some antibiotics (which I'm on day 2 of) and I'm starting to get my voice back although it still goes in and out and is still a little scratchy. But supposedly only 3 more days of these meds and I'll be all better :)
Yeah... the weather. It sucks. It's been starting to get into lower 60s for the most part, reaching lower 50s at night (it seems this is the deal back in Iowa as well), which compared to winters back home is nothing. But it's been really windy lately, and it's always raining. Which makes it miserable. And we don't have heat in our apartments... (no wonder I couldn't get over my cold right?)
In other news, Adam cooked paella again!!!!
Abby actually also cooked paella this same night as well so I got to eat some of hers too :)
